Lots of fun and free activities this week:
Kids’ CBC Days: This annual two-day party takes over the CBC Broadcasting Centre in and outdoors on Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30. You’ll most definitely run into some of your favourite Kids’ CBC stars in between live performances and all the free activities. While its geared for the 2-6 year-olds, they’ve also added some other big kid stuff like virtual reality quiz games, a cardboard maker station and coding workshop. We’ve always had a great time. Here are some super trip tips on planning your day.
Maker Fest: The maker movement is rolling through Toronto this week with a series of satellite events across the city between July 25 and 31. The big ticket, the annual Maker Extravaganza on August 1 and 2 at the Toronto Reference Library. If your kids (or you) are into robot-making, experimenting with electricity or checking out 3D printers, this is where you can join the city’s most imaginative as they gather to show off their latest creations and discoveries. It’s free. Registration is recommended. (If you do, you get to use the express lane entry.)
Rainy Day: Weather not so great? You can still swim. There are always the City of Toronto indoor pools, but why not change it up with some waves at the GTA’s only Wave Pool in Richmond Hill? The indoor space also has a warm swirl pool and water slide. Here’s the schedule and cost.
Stuck at Home: If you’re like us and have nature nuts at home, this bug-making activity by Meet the Dubiens should keep them busy gathering and creating.
Keep Mom Sane: A trip to the Art Gallery of Ontario is always on my me-time list. Now you can add a little samba, salsa and rumba to your art-veiwing. Every Saturday this summer there are dance lessons in Walker Court from 2 to 4 p.m. Dancing the Americas: Saturday Rhythms is part of the feature exhibition Picturing the Americas (on display until September 20.)
