This week’s Mom in T.O. Lindsay Witton is in the business of helping moms – new moms. As a registered social worker and mental health therapist, she is also a doula. Her current “work love” – I love this – is providing overnight support to families in the first couple weeks postpartum. Night time help!
“It’s such a vulnerable time for new moms – emotionally and physically. Even if mom has a partner, they are often tired and potentially overwhelmed and unsure how to help. Or there may be an older sibling that needs extra loving attention from the partner. Having a doula present can help everyone protect their sleep, build their confidence and ultimately get them started on the right foot. This is essential for protecting mom’s mood (and therefore the functioning of the whole family!)”
Lindsay, where were you seven years ago?
The mom-of-two is raising her family in her hometown of T.O. — her daughter is learning how to play ball on the same fields she did! Be sure to check out her favourite spots to visit with and without Kids in TOw on www.MomsinTO.com.
