It’s like we’ve been in hibernation. Then it’s Family Day weekend and all of a sudden there are a million things for families to do in Toronto. How to choose? We’ve sifted through all the options and have this list of activities for indoors, outdoors and around TOwn. And – some are free.

  1. The Bentway: The new skate trail under the Gardiner is hosting a party with a family-friendly DJ, food trucks, hot drinks and winter crafts at Fort York Visitor Centre. MONDAY / FREE
  2. Ontario Science Centre: There is lots on the go, including special events like a Tech Art Fair and Science on 2 Wheels where littles can ride bikes. ALL WEEKEND
  3. TIFF’s digiplayspace: Family Day weekend is opening weekend for TIFF’s annual awesome interative tech-inspired exhibition digiPlaySpace. ALL WEEKEND
  4. Winter Stations: The annual outdoor art exhibition along Woodbine Beach in the Beach neighbourhood. (More art? Check out the Toronto Light Fest in the Distillery District and Ice Breakers along the Waterfront.) ALL FREE
  5. Art Gallery of Ontario: A colourful weekend planned with dance parties, paintless painting, films and a bubble wrap room. ($10 off a family pass if you book your tickets online in advance.) MONDAY
  6. Legoland Discover Centre: New Space Mission exhibition opens February 17-18. ALL WEEKEND
  7. Canadian International Auto Show: Check out the world’s fastest car, test out some virtual reality driving simulators and celebrate Hot Wheels 50th anniversary with a special kid’s zone. ALL WEEKEND
  8. Evergreen Brick Works: Brewer’s Backyard is back – and indoors. Outside in the Children’s Garden, families can gather around the campfire for some soup-making and storytelling. MONDAY / FREE
  9. Toronto Marlies: The Marlies face off with the Hershey Bears at the Air Canada Centre at 3 p.m. MONDAY
  10. Rouge National Urban Park: Winter activities like learn-to-curl, snowshoe demos, snowga (yoga!) and campfires with Parks Canada. SUNDAY / FREE
