You and me and Kids’ CBC….da da da da…

Kids CBC DaysYou know the tune. And if you don’t, then it’s certainly time to tune into Kids’ CBC to discover all the on screen and online Canadian content for kids (and parents too. See below for why.)

Better yet, get acquainted in person at the annual Kids’ CBC Days, two fun-filled days of free entertainment and activities, on July 16 and 17, 2014 at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto.

We’ve plopped ourselves on the floor of the CBC Atrium for the last few years to enjoy the live performances by our fave Kids’ CBC stars like Patty, Mamma Yamma, Bookaboo, and Super Why (to name a few.) And even if your kids aren’t the sit-and-watch type (really, what kid is?) there are tons of hands-on activities by Kids’ CBC and their event partners to keep the little ones engaged and learning inside and outside the building. And parents, it’s highly likely you’ll have your own CBC star sighting if you let your eyes wander to the balconies above.

TRIP TIPS:

Getting there: Driving, there are lots of Green P’s and private parking lots (ranging from $10 – $25.) There are some three-hour paid ($3-$4 per hour) street parking in the area . On public transit, the closest stops are from King St streecars (walk south to Wellington Street Entrance on the north.) Or get off at St. Andrews Subway stop and take the PATH (you’ll emerge near the Front Street Entrance). All entrances lead to the Atrium. Stroller parking inside.

When to go: Activities and performances between 10 am – 3 pm on Wed and Thurs. Check out the schedule to be sure not to miss your favourite stars. And you’ll be the star if you bring the kids for the big balloon drop at the end of the final show on Thurs. One of the day’s most memorable moments for my kids.

Potty time: Washrooms in the northeast corner.

Snack time: Bring your own food. But there is a food court onsite. Take escalators downstairs in southeast corner.
