Let’s face it, mud and kids attract. So we say send ’em to get head-to-toe mucky when Mud Hero Kids comes to the Toronto area this summer.
Mud Hero is designed first and foremost as an adult race (and party), but now kids aged 4 to 13 are encouraged to get dirty through a smaller version – a 500-metre circuit of six kid-sized mud-laden obstacles (walls, teeter totters, balance beams, cargo wall, tunnels and a mud pit.)
You can see what you’re getting your kids into (or better yet give it a whirl yourself) when Mud Hero launches its season May 23 and 24 at the Urban Toronto race at Ontario Place. Spectators can watch (for free) hundreds of wanna-be-kids-again trudge all smiles through over 20 obstacles on a six-kilometre course.
Toronto kids have their turn on August 29th at the Mud Hero Kids race in Albion Hills Conservation Area. Put it in your summer calendar now.
TRIP TIPS:
Getting there: While Mud Hero Kids takes place at every event – Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg and Red Deer – Toronto kids have their chance end of summer at Albion Hills (about 50 minutes drive northwest of Toronto.) If you kids in TOw are 14-and-over, sign ’em up for Urban Toronto race.
Low Down: Pre-registration is $15 (event day is $25.) Kids start according to age in four different waves 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. For the 4 and 5 year-olds, parents in TOw must accompany; for 6 and 7-year-olds they can walk along side. For older kids, parents are encouraged to give sideline support. Everyone receives a participant medal and t-shirt. What to pack.
