All week my family has been asking me what I want to do for Mother’s Day. And that I tell you is a gift in itself.
They know me well. While I love surprises, I do like organizing ahead time, carefully curating an experience, and planing for plan B. This year, however, I’m done with the details. And I can’t wait to see how the day unfolds.
Got plans? Have you been dropping hints? If your crew needs a gentle nudge, here are a few Toronto ideas on how to say Happy Mother’s Day to the special Mom in TOw:
For moms who like it simple: Favourite food, favourite chocolate, favourite tea or coffee, favourite flowers. Ask your kids what mom loves best and make it happen. The Toronto Flower Market launches this Saturday, you can pick up some beauties there, or get your little ones to grab some dandlions along the way.
For moms looking to sweat: A big high five to the moms running the Sporting Life 10K. For everyone else – avoid driving downtown! If mom is looking for a new way to keep fit, get her a gift certificate for indoor surfing at Surfset Toronto or for a hardcore class at Pursuit ORC.
For moms seeking solitute: Book mom a FLOAT. I hid out here at H2O Float Spa in silence.
For moms who want to get away: Day trip to the spa! Send her up north to Spa Scandinave. Make it for a later day so the gift keeps on giving.
For moms who want to hang out with their kids: If it’s family time for Mother’s Day, check out the mother of all whales at the ROM, shop, eat and play at Evergreen Brick Works new Sunday Market, enjoy the all-you-can-eat kid-friendly Bluegrass Brunch at The Dakota (full review coming up next) or bust it out of town to go climb trees at the Treewalk Village in Stouffville.
Happy Mother’s Day!
