Getting the heck outside in nature is always a good idea for kids in TOw. Add waterfalls as the destination and you’re sure to get those little legs moving. We hit the road and discovered a few kid-friendly hikes near waterfalls in and around Hamilton. It may be called Steeltown, but it boasts beautiful scenery and easy access to more than 100 waterfalls. And it’s only about an hour or so drive from Toronto.
Here are two of our favourites. Know of any others that are good for exploring with the fam? Leave them in the comments or send me a note, we’ll be sure to add them:
This one is only a five-minute walk from the trail head on a well-groomed path making it an easy hike for the little legs in the family. There is a small look-out but you can get pretty close to the falls themselves. Getting there: north of Hwy 403 near Ancaster. Small paid parking lot on-site.
Albion Falls is part of a larger circuit of waterfalls. It’s a bit of a climb down but do-able for kids in TOw (My four-year-old managed.)
Getting there: Located in Hamilton off Mountain Brow Blvd. Free parking lot nearby.
