Extreme Fun

A long stretch of holidays had us trying out some new (to us) spots to play indoors. Extreme Fun (not to be confused with Planet Fun, Kids Fun Town or the to-be reviewed All for Fun) is a 5,500 sq-ft play and party space in between O’Connor and Eglinton Ave E in what is technically North York.

Fun. Of course what one child finds fun may be completely uninteresting to another. Here you’ll certainly find something that will engage and entertain the ten-and-unders. The high ceilings and lots of windows make the space feel even larger and uncrowded – large enough for a 15-ft play structure with tunnels and slides, a bouncy castle, basketball nets, a series of little kitchens, a mini-log cabin, a dress up area and tons of ride-on toys.

What got my kids’ attention were the foosball and air hockey tables. They were hooked. Dad will have to accompany them next time.

TRIP TIPS

Getting there: Driving, it’s north of O’Connor Drive south of Eglinton (west of Victoria Park.) Probably about a dozen free parking spots in the lot directly in front. On TTC, the 91 Woodbine bus leaves Woodbine subway station and travels along O’Connor Drive. Get off on Bermondsey Rd at Bartley Drive.

Low-down: Open for drop in Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. $7 for first child, $5 for sibling. One-and-under is free. No childcare – parents and guardians must watch their children. Weekends and Friday nights are reserved for private events. They have four party packages. You can also reserve a group on weekdays and share with drop ins. No shoes. Socks are mandatory for everyone. It’s carpeted, except for the eating area and bathrooms. Clean.

Babies: Welcome. There is not a designated baby area (we did see an excersaucer) but there is lots of exploring for the crawlers or walkers.

Parent perks: Free wi-fi.

Food: The seating area has about six tables and in full view of the play area. You can bring your own peanut-free food or order something simple and very affordable from menu.

Potty time: Yes, men and women’s bathrooms with baby change tables.
