I heart this city. It’s the last weekend before Christmas weekend – so what are you doing to be merry in Toronto? Here are some ideas of fun:

Take in theatre – inside and outsideThe Story by Common Boots Theatre is on until December 30, 2017 in Christie Pits Park. Admission by donation. Soulpepper’s Young at Heart, a short free family concert with music, stories and sing-alongs will follow select perforamnces of Peter Pan.  Friday December 15 – 8:30 PM show and Saturday December 16 – 2:30 PM show. (Other performance dates through December.)

 

Skate in circles – We are excited to do a loop around the City’s newest skate trail in Riverdale Park East. The grand opening is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

 

Star Wars – again – The Skywalker saga continues with Star Wars: The Last Jedi hitting theatres on Friday, December 15. For more Star Wars fandom, check out the Start Wars Pop Up at 277 Queen St. West. Admission is free – open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until December 17, 2017. REALLY into it? Holiday gift swap – Greenpeace Canada and the Toronto Tool Library host a mega gift swap on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free makers workshops, zero-wast gift wrapping stations. Free event and family-friendly.

 

Get in nature – Free guided Family Nature Walk at Tommy Thompson Park on Saturday, December 16. No registration required. What to expect: https://www.tommythompsonpark.ca/event/nature-walks/

 

Shop local – The Leslieville Holiday Market presented by the Leslieville Farmers’s Market, Rorschach Brewing Co and The Leslieville Flea on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be kids activities and Santa is scheduled to make an appearance on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. Leftfield Brewery’s Draughts and Crafts Makers Market takes place on Sunday, December 17th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Makeology’s Holiday Fair at Wychwood Barns is also on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (adults $3, kids 12 and under free.)
