This is how to love winter. The cold season just got a little brighter with the Toronto Light Fest’s second year of illuminating the Historic Distillery District. You can guarantee (and as Instagram confirms) a whole lot of hipsters are heading down to experience and capture all the artful brightness.
But you don’t have to be adults to enjoy it. Your kids will definitely get a kick out of the 20-plus art installations on display daily starting at sundown. That’s about 5:30 p.m. – meaning you can check out the spectacle, grab a hot cocoa and be home and have the kids in bed for bedtime!
Here are some highlights that may catch the little guys’ eyes:
A pyramid made of thousands of gummy bears – you can crawl underneath!
Catch a glimpse of Batman
A fire-breathing dragon
And a light tunnel
TRIP TIPS:
Getting there: Accessible by car and TTC. Paid parking on-site.
Snacks: Highly recommend the Distillery’s very own chocolate factory SOMA (it is death by Mayan hot chocolate for this mama and kids love to watch the chocolate being made on-site) and Balzacs (seated café). There is a special Sweets & Treats station set up for the TO Light Fest.
Low-down: The fest is free and on until March 4th. Sundown to 9 p.m. (Sunday to Wednesday) and sundown to 10 p.m. (Thursday to Saturday.)
