So we wandered up the DVP from downtown Toronto to Richmond Hill for a swim. It’s not just any indoor pool – it’s the GTA’s only wave pool, equipped with a waterslide. And it’s not just any old slide, it has rainbow interior.

The Richmond Hill Wave Pool has the feels of a community centre with some impressive features that definitely make the trek north of the 401 worth it. The pool itself is fairly large with lots of accessories like water mats, noodles, balls and basketball hoops. The shallow beach entrance is great for littles and the deeper end (with the waves) will keep the stronger swimmers in TOw well entertained. Plus, there is a hot tub (called a warm water swirl pool) and sauna.

The year-round facility has leisure swim times and swimming lessons; entrance fees are $9.90 for adults and $6 for kids (up to 15-years-old). Children under 3 are free.

Getting there: The Richmond Hill Wave Pool is located at 5 Hopkins Street – west of Markham, east of Vaughan. Free parking lot on-site.

Low-down: Check the schedule and cost online before going. Note that for the slide, you need to be minimum 39″ and 40 lbs, (max 6’2″ and 330 lbs.) There is a small family washroom with two showers and a few change rooms. https://www.richmondhill.ca/en/things-to-do/The-Wave-Pool.aspx
