GIFT OF THEATRE WITH SOULPEPPER’S FAMILY FESTIVAL
No doubt the Toronto Christmas Market has all the holiday feels. Carolers and carousels make the Distillery District super magical but it’s also one of our favourite places to experience theatre with the kids in TOw. Soulpepper’s family-friendly performances over the holidays are for an all ages crowd (and include admission to the Toronto Christmas Market on days that it’s not free.) Take your pick: TWEET TWEET! (for the littles under 6 on December 27-29); Peter Pan blew us away last year (for 6+ from December 6-January 5) and The Christmas Carol (for ages 8+ December 6-24).

THE GIFT OF MUSIC
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Young People’s Concert series has a super line-up for kids’ ears coming in the new year, including a fun whodunit concert and a fairy-taled performance in the new year. Among them, one-hour matinees that are perfect for kids ages 5 to 10 crowd. For the Star Wars fans in the fam, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be in concert May 6, 7, 8 & 9, 2020.

FAIRY TALES IN THE CITY
Theatre, song, dance and stories that make you laugh. Introduce your kids to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. This Merry Magical Panto by Torrent Productions sets up shop at the Royal Canadian Legion at Coxwell and Gerrard from December 20-29. Ross Petty Productions Lil’Red Robin Hood is a mega mash up of some of your all time fave fairy tales. They’ll be at their new stage home at the Winter Garden Theatre from November 29-January 4.
Also on stage: the story of Pinocchio as told by the wonderfully talented actors at the Young Peoples’ Theatre.
LIGHTS! WINTER! ACTION!
Whether we’re in for a white Christmas or not, it’s easy to get into the wintry spirit with these three cool experiences. New to T.O. Terra Lumina, the 1.5 km luminescent night walk, illuminates the Toronto Zoo, starting December 13. (And no family would say no to a Zoo Family Membership that keeps giving year-round.) Canada’s Wonderland transforms its amusement park into a holiday-themed WinterFest. We’re talking millions of lights, selection of rides running and tasty treats, on now until December 31. (PS: Summer passes also make good stocking stuffers.) Aurora Winter Fest brings a winter wonderland of light sculptures and installations to Ontario Place. The 170-foot tube slide will definitely impress the littles and adults in TOw, on now until January 5.
GIFT OF MYSTERY
The gift that gives for weeks! Mail Order Mystery, created by a Toronto mom, is a series of personalized snailmail packaged mysteries for your kids to solve. They are perfect gift for school-aged siblings or friends and an awesome activity for the whole fam. Get out of the house with one of the holiday-themed or not family-friendly escape rooms.
