We got some SPRING in our step! It is finally time for families in T.O. to shed (pack away) the winter gear and step into a new season in the city. There is a ton to celebrate in May. (Psst: Don’t forget Mother’s Day on May 11th!)

  1. Centreville Amusement Park opens on weekends in May. The mini amusement park is home to 30 rides, food vendors and the Far Enough Farm.  

2. Speaking of rides, Canada’s Wonderland kicks off the new season on May 8th (with Splash Works scheduled for May 24th).

What’s new? The AplenFury, Canada’s longest, tallest and fastest launch roller coaster, launches you inside Wonder Mountain 50m into the sky.

3. Yeehaw! The Bata Shoe Museum is celebrating 30 years with the opening of Rough & Ready, a new exhibit exploring the history of the cowboy boot. There is a free community event on May 11th.

4. Rock ‘n roll at the Illuminarium Toronto in the Distillery District. Amplified, The Immersive Rock Experience offers a 350-degree view into rock’s most iconic performances and biggest rock icons.

5. The Spring Bird Festival is back at Tommy Thompson Park (aka The Spit) on May 10th. The Toronto Region Conservation Authority is hosting a number of free events marking the spring migration.

6. Farmers markets return to the outdoors. In the east, Leslieville Farmers Market heads back to Greenwood Park on May 11th, and is on every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until October 26th. In the west, Sorauren Farmers Market goes outside on Mondays starting May 19th.

  • ICYMI: The grand opening of the Saturday Farmer’s Market in its new building across the street from the St. Lawrence Market is scheduled for May 10th.

7. Feel the Rush! The Toronto Rush, the city’s professional ultimate team, returns to University of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium. The season opener is on May 10th at 6 p.m.

9. Happy birthday to the AGO — the Art Gallery of Ontario celebrates 125 years on May 15th. There’s a fun 30s Swing Dancing night scheduled for May 23rd. 

10. Out of TOwn: Check out the GTA’s largest Tulip field at Pingle’s Tulip Festival, opening May 8th and running 3 weekends. For Kids in TOw, you can play all day in Pingle’s Playland.
