May 9, 2016 – Quote of the day: “Lions eat dandelions you know.”
My three-year-old has email. No, he can’t read nor write. But he has an email address and an inbox filled with hundreds of unread messages — from mom.
I’ve been sending him and his older brother letters and photos (like the one above) since they were born.
Why?
There is something special and initimate about writing a personal note to your child.
Even though I blog about our adventures online at Kids in T.O., I tend to undershare when it comes to social media. I try not to post my kids’ faces on Facebook. I have snapchat but have yet to dive in. And Twitter and Instagram are supposed to be about parenthood in Toronto and less about them.
So when I want to remember a moment, I drop them a line. When they stop to smile, I capture it and push send. When they say something funny, I type it and email when it’s freshest in my mind. And –until they can choose for themselves to ‘share’ – it’s just for them.
I can’t wait for their first ‘reply.’
How do you chronicle your kids’ lives?
