Ski hills in the summer? You bet. We took to the slopes at Horseshoe Resort for some outdoor summertime fun.
The year-round resort, an hour-and-a-half drive north from downtown Toronto, recently kicked off its summer offerings – visualize lots of wide-open space to let the kids explore, hike, climb and (if they are brave enough and 75 lbs) zipline.
Most of the kid-friendly activities are at the foot of the hill – rock-climbing wall, inflatable obstacle course, euro bungy (trampolining in a harness), small playground and gemstone and fossil mining. And as you can see from the view above, the restaurant and outdoor patio overlook the kid-zone, making it easy for families to let kids play yet be in close viewing distance. Plus there is an outdoor stage with a summer concert series.
Not far, you can do mini-putt, try to not to lose yourself (or your kids) in maze, or take the chair lift up for more adventures – mountain, fat and balance biking, ATV, buggie, Segway and hummer tours.
For more big-kid adventure, there is also a zipline and Treetop Trekking. (PS – for littles who want to play in the trees – check out the Treewalk Village in Stouffville.)
So easy to spend a full day here. Here is a peek of what you can see during the snow-free season.
