Five local moms you should follow for the best back-to-school food
Happy Back to School! This year is a biggie for me. My youngest starts school, which means double duty on lunch box prep. After a summer of picnics, play dates and meals on-the-go, I’m out of energy and ideas. So I am looking at these Toronto (and Ontario) moms for some delicious, healthy and easily packable back-to-school food inspiration.
- Laura Keogh and Ceri Marsh
You are grandly missing out if you haven’t yet discovered and devoured the family-friendly recipes by the Toronto moms behind Sweet Potato Chronicles. Laura and Ceri make feeding your family seem easy – and just wait, more ideas to come in a new cookbook next year. I love how they get their kids to participate – check out the work of this little food stylist:
- Rachel Schwartzman
There is so much healthy living inspiration from this mom-of-three. A naturopathic doctor, birth doula and acupuncturist, she is also organizer of Toronto’s Bump to Baby Show. Lots of delicious treats and beautiful and colourful recipes I want my kids to love. Check out her insta-feed to see how she packs lunches for three waste-free. And I’ll take these muffins anytime:

- Jan Scott
Cookbook author, creator of Family Bites blog and food editor for SavvyMom.ca, this mom’s insta-feed is always full of healthy food options and emergency lunches that she feeds her three boys in TOw. I am betting on mine loving this puff pastry pizza as a leftover school lunch:
- Christine Lee-McNaughton
Every T.O. mama needs a dose of country living and this Ontario mom makes me want to get the heck out of the city. I love following her adventures on Manitoulin Island and the fresh family-friendly meals she is cooking up.
- Angela Liddon
The Oh She Glows founder and cookbook author is an Oakville mom with a toddler in TOw and a babe on the way. I cannot wait to see what she sends in lunch boxes when her kids head to school. Until then, there is ample inspiration that is oh so good for you and your family:
