Torontonians have a huge love for the 6ix and its professional sports teams. But it’s not always easy to score nor afford tickets for the whole family to experience the pros play live. That’s why we’ve fallen for our new hometown favourites – the 905.
The Raptors 905 is the NBA’s only Canadian Development League team. Their home stadium, the Hersey Centre in Mississauga, seats a cozy 5,000 so you don’t need to be courtside to hear the squeak of sneakers and feel the players’ power. You can expect all the pro-sport ambiance with high-energy announcers, dancers, half-time and jumbotron entertainment, plus appearances by Stripes – the super fun back-flipping mascot. The east side is the Raptors bench and provided easy acces to offer up a high five as the team entered and exited the court. All this for single tickets starting at $19 — our centre bowl tickets were under $30 each.
If you haven’t already jumped on the bandwagon, now is the time. Having only joined the 19-team league in 2015, the Raptors 905 are the 2017 Central Division Champs and took top seed of the Eastern Conference going into the playoffs. Next home games are April 7 and 8, 2017.
Here’s a peek. See below photos for all the deets.
