Hello June! Finally, it’s feeling like summer. The sun is warming up the city and making T.O. green again. Gardens are blooming and calendars are bursting with events. Toronto is heading into full summer-mode, meaning there are more activities than ever for families in TOw.
Here are ten things that you need to add to your June calendar:

- Just opened: Home Game: Toronto loves Basketball, a new exhibit by the Museum of Toronto explores the relationship between basketball and this city. On now, Harbourfront Centre, FREE.
Trip tip: Check out an app, created by the Design Lab at York University where you can custom design a jersey and view game-related objects. The app is also connected to three other activations at Pan Am Centre, York University and Regent Park Community Centre.
2. The annual Luminato festival is back. The 2025 lineup explores how we engage with each other and the city with dozens of art, theatre, music and dance experiences and performances. On now until June 22. FREE & TICKETED.
Here are some Luminato experiences that might interest in the kids in TOw.
3. You’re All in the Band is an immersive music experience as part of Luminato. Students from the Community Music Schools of Toronto perform Hawksley Workman’s “Every little voice.” incorporating ukuleles, harps, cellos, turntables, steel pans, guitars and voices – and the audience. June 21, TMU, FREE.
4. Runaway Rivers, another Luminato interactive art exhibition, takes over YZD, the former Downsview airport lands. Visitors can hop into a specially designed wheeled canoe and follow one of the lost rivers and waterways. June 14 & 21, YZD Plaza, FREE.
5. Rainbow Dreams, also part of Luminato, feature three interactive experiences meant to encourage visitors to move, play and pause. Activations – from pilates and picnics to flower making and chess – are found at Brookfield Place, Bay Adelaide Centre and First Canadian Place.
Trip tip: The Rainbow Wheel is in motion at Brookfield Place first, then moves to the other locations until July 25.
6. One last Luminato pick: Terceradix Luminarium, a walk-in sculpture of towering domes and winding pathways filled with colours that shift and change with the sunlight. On now until June 22, Harbourfront Centre, TICKETED
7. Do West Fest is Little Portugal’s street fest, covering 16 blocks on Dundas W. June 6-8, Shaw St to Landsdowne Ave, FREE.
8. The annual Summer Music Garden kicks off its weekly live concerts along the waterfront. There are 18 free performances this year. June 21 to August 28, Toronto Music Garden along Queen’s Quay, FREE.
9. For new parents: Baby Bunch at the ROM is a series of gatherings (gentle guided tour followed by conversation over tea and cookies) for parents of babies under 18 months old. June 22 & 28, TICKETED.
10. Ah-hoy Toronto! The Tall Ships Festival sails in for a weekend of live entertainment, activities and food. June 28 & 29, Sugar Beach, FREE (tours of the four tall ships are TICKETED.)
